Washington Lake Campground

Location: Summit County, UT

Client: Bureau of Reclamation

Duration: 8 months

Contract Value: $2 million

This project involved the construction of a new campground, restrooms and utilities adjacent to a pristine mountain lake in a very remote region of the Uinta mountain range. The project took place over three building seasons because of the high altitude, deep snow and very short building season. Ready mix concrete required specialized mixing and handling because of long haul distances. An underground waterline was installed from the lake to the campground to provide water hydrants. A series of roadway loops through the campground were constructed after approximately 500 pine trees were removed, stumps excavated and the timber hauled from the site. Special procedures were made for both environmental and safety concerns. A storm water pollution prevention plan was initiated and adhered to as well as two way radio installed with local forest service.
