Big Water Visitors Center
Location: Big Water, UT
Client: Bureau of Land Management
Duration: 10 months
Contract Value: $1.2 million
The Big Water Visitors Center offers guests of the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument a remote respite where educational opportunities abound. The architectural stone cladding on the building’s exterior immediately conveys to visitors the geological and paleontological themes that await them inside.
CWC was selected as the best value provider to build the facility by the Bureau of Land Management. Work included excavation, framing, site utilities, concrete paving, interior finishes, exterior cladding, and mechanical and electrical work, with CWC self-performing concrete, CMU construction, and structural steel framing. Materials and subcontractors were mobilized to the remote site from Page, Arizona and Salt Lake City, Utah.
