BYU McKay Building Remodel

Location: Provo, UT

Client: Brigham Young University

Duration: 18 months

Contract Value: $4 million

This project was built in two phases. The first phase consisted of the basement and first floor and the second phase included the second and third floors.  As each floor was being worked on the other two floors were being used for classes. The scope of the project included complete interior demolition, replacement of all windows and construction of shear walls extending through all four floors to complete the seismic upgrade for the building. The mechanical and electrical systems required complete replacement along with finishes of gypsum / metal studs, paint, wall coverings and new floor finishes. Each phase was coordinated with the university to insure minimal interruption to the environment and class schedule. Stringent dust and noise protection was required, as well as the implementation of barricades and walkways for the safety of the students, facility, and construction team.
