Painted Desert Inn & Rangers Quarters

Location: Petrified Forest National Park, AZ

Client: National Park Service

Duration: 16 months

Contract Value: $2.5 million

A critical goal for the renovation of the Painted Desert Inn was to preserve the history and charm of the original building, built in 1924 and renovated with a design by architect Mary Colter in 1947.

CWC was selected as the best value provider by the National Park Service to complete a renovation that included site utilities, framing, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, specialized door and window restoration, roofing, interior finishes, and a visitor’s parking lot. CWC self-performed key specialized services, such as viga and savino restoration, flagstone mapping and reinstallation.
